Reward an outstanding associate by nominating him/her for Sales Associate of the Year. Just nominating your sales associate for this award will let them know that you recognize their efforts and will reflect how highly you regard them. Honor a GTAR Commercial REALTOR® member by nominating him/her for Commercial REALTOR® of the Year. The award will be announced at the first annual REALTORS® Commercial Alliance Celebration on January 12, 2007 at the Tulsa County Club. REMINDER: January 1, National Criminal History Check Goes Into Effect
Effective January 1, 2008, anyone applying for a real estate license will be required to submit to a state and federal background check per HB 1006. Background checks will be required on anyone wishing to obtain a Provisional Sales, Sales Associate or Broker License, whether they are applying as a resident or non-resident licensee. The cost for the background check will be approximately $45, and must be submitted to OREC with the appropriate completed form and fingerprint card. OREC will have an order form on their Web site to request a fingerprint card from them. The cost to obtain fingerprints has been estimated at $10, and locations to obtain those prints will also be available on OREC’s Web site.
What this means to you as a licensed associate or broker: Do not let your license expire/lapse!
Be sure to obtain all your necessary CE credits and submit applications and renewal fees promptly. You do not want to find yourself in a situation where your license is “expired,” otherwise, you will be seeking a license under the new law, and will be subject to delays in obtaining a new license. OREC says applicants and “expirees” should allow approximately 60 days for background checks to be completed.
More than ever, do not wait until the end of your 3-year period to complete your required 21 hours of CE!
Once you complete your CE hours, ALWAYS follow-up with OREC to make sure all your hours have been recorded before the end of your licensing period; if OREC does not show credit for a class you have taken, call the school that you took the class from, whether it’s GTAR or another one. It is YOUR responsibility to ensure OREC has properly recorded your hours!

This new course will focus on green building as it relates to the commercial real estate market but should have cross-over interest for those in the residential market. GTAR/NORES Inclement Weather Policy
We are entering that time of year when the weather does not always work in our favor; therefore, GTAR/NORES has established the following inclement weather policy for all education classes at GTAR (CE, Computer, New Member Orientation, Post Licensing): If Tulsa Public Schools are closed the day of a scheduled class, the GTAR/NORES class is cancelled. Depending on the type of class being cancelled, the class will either be rescheduled for a future date or a full refund will be issued. Please be sure to check one of the local news channels the night before and/or morning of a scheduled class for school closings.
2nd Annual REALTORS® Commercial Alliance Celebration Banquet – Friday, January 25
Recognizing the achievements of Commercial REALTOR® members within the profession and the community and honoring the 2007 Commercial REALTOR® of the Year (to be announced at the Celebration); cost is $50 per person. 2008 Dues are Late!
A $20 late payment fee is required. The invoices include local, state, and national dues. REALTOR® dues are now $400 and REALTOR-ASSOCIATE® dues are $370 (includes the late payment fee). You can pay online with Visa or MasterCard by logging on to tulsamls.net; under Financial Services, click GTAR Accounts Receivables. Please note: If you pay your dues online, the $20 late fee will be assessed manually – you will be mailed an invoice. Payment can also be made by personal check or cash. If you are planning on moving your license, all transfers will have to have paid 2008 dues prior to transferring to a new company. If dues are not paid by January 1, 2008, MLS services will be suspended and keys shut off. To reinstate will require a $40 reinstatement fee and new paperwork from the broker.
