Weekly Facts Blog – January 3, 2011

If GTAR dues were not paid by January 1, 2011—by any sales associate—their GTAR membership and MLS services were suspended and keys shut off TODAY, January 3. To reinstate will require a $40 reinstatement fee, 2011 GTAR dues payment, and new paperwork from the broker. Click Here for Required Paperwork
Scam Alert!
Reports are being received of homes for sale being listed on Craigslist as rentals. The scammers are using information from website postings to make the ads look legitimate. They are asking for security deposits and first month rent to be sent to them. This is an ongoing scam. For more information, Click Here  or Google Craigslist rental scams.

Brokers/Managers: Please Update Your Files
There is a new schedule of fees for 2011 local, state, and national dues. Effective January 1, 2011, the Oklahoma Association of REALTORS® (OAR) is requiring GTAR to collect an additional $50 application fee for each new member. Click Here for Fee Schedule

GTAR/NORES Winter Weather Policy
We are in that time of year when the weather does not always work in our favor; therefore, GTAR/NORES has established the following inclement weather policy for all education classes at GTAR (CE, Computer, New Member Orientation, etc.): If Tulsa Public Schools are closed the day of a scheduled class due to hazardous driving conditions, the GTAR/NORES class is canceled. Depending on the type of class being canceled, the class will either be rescheduled for a future date or a full refund will be issued. In addition, for those of you who live outside the Tulsa area, if schools in your area are closed the day of class or you are uncomfortable making the drive, you can still receive a refund, but you MUST call or email us that day (day of the class). You cannot just be a “no show” and expect a refund. Please be sure to check one of the local news channels the night before and/or morning of a scheduled class for school closings.
“It’s a Good Time to Buy” Yard Signs
We still have a few “It’s a Good Time to Buy” signs left: Broken Arrow, Bixby, Jenks, and blank ones (no city listed); we are out of Tulsa and Owasso signs. The PR campaign yard signs are available to all GTAR members at no additional cost—all you have to do is come by the GTAR office and get them. A number of other marketing tools are available to you with this PR campaign. For more information: Click Here
