GOVERNMENT ISSUES/LEGAL:
Basel III Would Hurt Home Ownership
Proposed Basel III international banking protocols will impose harsh capital requirements on residential and commercial mortgages, with particular negative consequences to first-time and minority home buyers, NAR says in comments.
Be Cautious on Rules, NAR Tells Regulator
Poorly thought out regulations could reduce consumer access to credit, NAR tells the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) in comments to the agency's five-year plan. NAR also says the agency should release rules in such a way that it minimizes the impact and confusion of its rules on the industry and on consumers.
