GOVERNMENT ISSUES/LEGAL:
Long-term Update to Sec. 502 Loans Needed
The U.S. Rural Housing Service has taken administrative steps to keep some 900 communities in 48 states from losing eligibility for popular Sec. 502 loans, which allow households to get affordable mortgage financing in thousands of communities around the country. But once RHS applies 2010 Census data to the program, those 900 communities will lose eligibility. NAR has been urging Congress to bring the program's population criteria up to date, and will issue a call for Action on the issue. More on the RHS administrative action.
